Robyn Kildey
Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Robyn has 20 years’ in clinical and industry experience in Orthopaedics. While working in a senior management role in the early 90’s with Stryker Australia she saw a developing need to track patient outcomes which led to setting up her business and the birth of Socrates.
After training as a nurse and working in NZ, UK and Australia Robyn joined the medical device industry in the 80s and has worked in various sales and marketing and product development roles. During her time as the manager of the implant division for Stryker Australia it became clear that doing business in orthopaedics was changing, it was becoming increasingly difficult to sell implants and introduce new technology without some clinical history and knowledge of outcomes. Reimbursement was also getting more difficult with surgeons and payers rightly starting to question the cost of these devices. Robyn also recognised how poorly represented the community surgeons were on the podium at the major meetings, especially from the Antipodes, and there was a dearth of good longitudinal studies on real-life patients treated in the community. After returning to Australia from Boston in 2004 she resolved to use her orthopaedic contacts and knowledge to develop a software program that was available and affordable to all clinicians to facilitate following patient outcomes.
